We have many special events every year at St Joseph's Charlestown.

Parent Evening
Each year we offer parents the opportunity to engage with other professionals. We have had parent sessions on Anxiety and Children, Building Resilience in Children, Bullying and Conflict Management, Personal Development programs, and Cybersafety sessions. All of these have been received positively and have given staff and parents practical advice and strategies to assist children's growth and development. Our school newsletter is published via the skoolbag app and via email each fortnight. It is the place to go for all school information. The skoolbag app is an essential part of our home school communication. |
"Meet and Greet" Evening
This year we held an "Open Night" where parents and teachers could meet in the classrooms and see firsthand the learning environments. The children enjoyed showing their parents their classrooms and some of their work. Welcome BBQ Thanks to our wonderful P & F committee we started the year with a community bbq. This was a great way to meet new families and to reconnect with returning families. The year 6 students led the younger students in games and activities and a fun night was had by all. It was lovely to see so many people in attendance! |

Beginning of Year School Mass
Our beginning of year Mass was celebrated with our parish family at St. Mary Immaculate Church Charlestown. It is an opportunity for all the students, staff and families to come together to pray for God's blessing on our new school year. At this mass the new school councillors and sport captains are vested with their leadership badges and blessed. A very important part of our Catholic school life is to celebrate through the tradition of prayer. |
Swimming Carnival
We hold an annual swimming carnival for children turning 8 years of age in the current year. Our last 3 carnivals have been held at Lane 4 Aquatics Centre at Mayfield. It's a great day watching the children compete and have fun, meeting new parent helpers and getting into the spirit of St Joseph's. We are always very grateful to our parent and grandparent helpers who assist with our carnivals! Thank YOU! |

Sport Programs
We invite many outside agencies to provide a balanced sport program for infants and primary classes including gymnastics, intensive swimming program at Charlestown Pool, Dance and Tennis. These programs are constantly evaluated by the staff, children and parents therefore new programs may be introduced. |
Catholic Schools Week
We celebrate our catholicity every week but we have a deliberate focus during Catholic Schools Week to invite parents to come and share in our liturgy, open classrooms and activities. |
|
St Joseph's Day
We celebrate St Joseph's day with an annual St Joseph's Day art competition on 19th March. Every child is invited to participate and to share their artistic talents. The winning masterpiece from each class is framed and displayed for the year in our school office foyer. |
Cross Country
Our leafy, undulating grounds at St Joseph's lends itself to an amazing cross country track. Parents and teachers guide children through the fire trails and dodging the lovely trees. A fantastic day to be had. |

Athletics Carnival
At Harker Oval we take the opportunity to excel in our athletic abilities at our carnival. All children aged 8 years and up participate in running and jumping events. |
Mother's Day
Mother's Day is always a lovely occasion to celebrate and acknowledging how special our mothers are to us all. |
|
Father's Day
We celebrate our Dad's and Grandad's in a special way each year at St. Joseph's. Last year we held a games afternoon with Dad's participating with their children in sandcastle building, paper plane throwing, tug of war and array of sports. It was a fun and competitive afternoon! |
Grandparents' Day
Grandparents and children get a kick out of having our lovely grandparents in our classrooms, seeing our wonderful work and reading books with us. We celebrate their presence with a lovely liturgy and morning tea. |
