Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to our school website. We wish to acknowledge that our school is built on Awabakal land and we pay our respects to the people of this land both past and present.

St Joseph’s offers a Catholic education within the MacKillop parish, with excellence in teaching and learning from Kindergarten to Year 6. Founded by the Sisters of St Joseph, we take great pride in the Josephite charism. Our core values of Striving High, Living Like Jesus and Care for the Environment are embedded in our everyday life. We are committed to providing contemporary learning opportunities in flexible learning spaces. Our teachers work in collaboration to ensure high-quality programs are taught and to ensure differentiation across the curriculum to suit all learners. We are inclusive of all and provide quality support for students with additional needs in safe and supportive classrooms.

St Joseph’s fosters positive partnerships with all and we value authentic and open relationships and communication with our staff, students and parents. All members of our community are valued as people who are created in the image of Jesus. Our dedicated, professional and hardworking staff endeavour to provide a supportive learning environment for students to learn and grow in all facets of their life, developing their spiritual, social, emotional cognitive and physical needs, establishing a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing. We strive to develop students who are well equipped for our world, to be forward-thinking, hope-filled, upstanding citizens for today and tomorrow.

We provide a variety of academic, cultural and sporting opportunities for our students throughout the year supporting them to pursue their interests and talents. We offer many extra-curricular activities including band, choir, public speaking, lunch clubs and a variety of sports. We offer a unique and beautiful bush setting that allows us to create positive outdoor play areas such as a Loose Parts, where children can use the natural environment to create, imagine and build, promoting investigation, collaboration and discovery.

At St Joseph’s we enjoy tremendous community support. We work hard to make parents and carers feel welcome and that their input is valued. Schools are all about relationships and a partnership between home and school is vital to ensure the very best outcomes for all children. If children are happy, secure and feel valued, their learning is improved. We believe social and emotional wellbeing go hand in hand with quality learning. We use the Bounce Back program to teach positive thinking and resilience to help our students grow and learn.

We look forward to building strong relationships with you and your family.

On this website you will learn about the highlights of our school and the things we value. There is information on the many activities we are involved in and the opportunities available to all students.

God bless,

Mrs Kate Drake
