Extra-Curricular

St Joseph’s offers a range of extra-curricular activities.

School Band

Children from Years 3 to 6 have the opportunity to join the school band. This is organised and provided by Bryn Wilson-Kellaway Brass Specialist Music Tuition at a nominal fee. Interested parents are invited to phone Bryn on 0431 180 907 for information regarding fees and instrument hire.

School Concert

Each year, St Joseph’s puts on a school concert. All students are involved in this performance showcasing what they have learnt in music lessons for the year.

Drama

Children from Years 3 to 6 may join the school drama group. This group is run by an external provider during lunch once a week. Interested parents are encouraged to contact the school office for further information regarding registration and fees.

Tournament of the Minds (TOM)

TOM offers teams of students the opportunity to solve authentic, open-ended challenges that foster creative, divergent thinking whilst developing collaborative enterprise, excellence and teamwork.

Challenges are set in the following disciplines: The Arts, Language Literature, Social Sciences and STEM. Students are selected from Years 3 to 6 to try out for the TOM team each year.

ICAS Tests

Students are given the opportunity to sit the University of NSW ICAS tests for academic excellence.

ASPIRE

ASPIRE is a diocesan program of excellence for students in performing arts. Students audition in November each year for a place in the vocal ensemble, instrumental ensemble, drama ensemble and dance ensemble. Those who are selected attend rehearsals to prepare for a showcase in August each year.

Mini Vinnies

Students in Years 5 and 6 are invited to nominate themselves to be a part of our Mini Vinnies group. The Mini Vinnies group learn about social justice issues and organise fundraisers and events to raise awareness and funds for those in need.
